Interaction data involve the flow of people from origins to destinations.
The number of persons in each flow can be counted in a variety of categories, which are organised into tables. Interaction data are most naturally represented as origin-destination tables as shown in the figure. Each cell in the table refers to an origin (the row) and a destination (the column).
