What effect did the Foot and Mouth outbreak have on data collection?

Despite a lot of media speculation, there is no evidence that the census was seriously affected by the outbreak of foot and mouth. ONS worked very closely with key bodies such as the MAFF and National Farmers Union and where required special arrangements were made for the delivery and collection of forms.
