What is the Historical Censuses Collection?
The individual level data include:
- A transcription of a 2% sample of the 1851
census enumerators’ books,
compiled by Michael Anderson and Brenda Collins, and repurposed at the
History Department, University of Essex.
- A transcription of the complete 1881 census
enumerators’ books,
prepared under the direction of the Society of Latter Day Saints, and converted
to
a structured database at the History Department, University of Essex,
and by the AHDS History.
- A 5% sample of the 1881 census database, enhanced by
the addition of occupational, spatial and family structure codes.
- Around forty
local area studies.

- The Database of Irish Historical Statistics
