As for previous census but some new questions and changes to existing questions.

New questions:

• Number of rooms per household (if the number was less than five). (Introduction reflected concerns about overcrowding in industrial cities.)
• Was householder an employer, an employee, or self-employed.
• Did householder speak Welsh (this question asked only in Wales).

Changes to existing questions:

• For name, the initial of the person's second name had to be inserted.
• For marital status, the term 'Unmarried' was replaced by 'Single', abbreviation for 'widow' became 'wid.'
• Wales mentioned for first time in instructions for birthplace, from this time treated as per England.
• For medical disability 'from childhood' was substituted for 'from birth'.
