As for previous census but some new questions and changes to existing questions.
New questions:
- Number of rooms per household (if the number was less than five). (Introduction
reflected concerns about overcrowding in industrial cities.)
- Was householder an employer, an employee, or self-employed.
- Did householder speak Welsh (this question asked only in Wales).
Changes to existing questions:
- For name, the initial of the person's second name had to be inserted.
- For marital status, the term 'Unmarried' was replaced by 'Single', abbreviation
for 'widow' became 'wid.'
- Wales mentioned for first time in instructions for birthplace, from this
time treated as per England.
- For medical disability 'from childhood' was substituted for 'from birth'.
